Where to Ask for Records
The Delaware County Sheriff's Office operates the jail and maintains records for people booked there. It has not published a separate records-unit title, email, booking-photo fee, or guaranteed response time.

Use the correct route for the task:
- For a county booking sheet or photo, call or write the sheriff and identify the person, approximate booking date, and exact existing record sought.
- For current Delaware County custody, check the official roster and call the jail if timely confirmation matters.
- For a warrant concern, contact the sheriff, appropriate court, or a lawyer. Iowa Courts Online is case context, not a guaranteed live warrant check.
- For a filed case or disposition, use Iowa Courts Online or the courthouse clerk in the filing county.
- For a state prisoner, parolee, or probationer, use the Iowa Department of Corrections offender search and its open-records process.
- For federal custody, use the BOP locator. For qualifying ICE custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator.
- Call 911 only for an immediate threat or emergency.
Iowa Code chapter 22 allows record requests in person, by telephone, in writing, or electronically, subject to exemptions. Ask for an estimate before paid work and request an electronic copy when practical. The law does not create one universal production deadline.
